2. Staying safe on Candor

Candor is built on people vouching for people. That makes it different from an app full of strangers — but it does not make anyone safe, and it is not a substitute for your own judgement.

• There is no substitute for caution when communicating with anyone you have not met in person, no matter who vouched for them.
• Never send money or share financial information. Not to a member, and not to anyone who contacts you claiming to be from Candor. We will never ask you for payment outside the App Store.
• Do not share identifying information — your home address, your workplace, your daily routine, your financial details — until you know someone well and have decided to trust them.
• Meet in public, the first several times. A café, a restaurant, somewhere with other people around.
• Tell someone where you are going, who you are meeting, and when you expect to be back. Share the plan, not just the intention.
• Arrange your own transport, both directions. Do not be picked up from or dropped at your home on a first meeting.
• Leave whenever you want to. You never owe anyone an explanation, an apology, or more of your time.
• A vouch is an opinion, not a guarantee. People can be wrong about people they know well.
• Report anything that concerns you. Every profile, message, post and vouch has a report control. Reports go to a real person.

3. How we handle reports of harassment

Every report is reviewed by a person. We do not use automated decisions to close reports.

When you report harassment, we look at the reported content, the account’s history, and any related reports. We may remove content, restrict an account’s ability to message or be discovered, suspend the account, or remove it entirely. Where the law requires it, we report to the appropriate authority — including reporting suspected child sexual exploitation to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

If we act on your report, you will be told that we did. If we do not act, you can ask us to look again. Blocking someone is always available to you immediately and does not require a report or our approval.

Reports are retained as part of our safety record even if the reported account is later deleted, so that deletion cannot be used to erase a history of harm.

4. Emergencies

If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. Candor is not an emergency service and cannot dispatch help.
